computer not working

when computer is switched "ON" nothing but blank screen in monitor. while key board light ni "ON". Pl. help resolve the problem. The first thing you have to do is determine whether the problem is with the monitor or the motherboard/video card. Try replacing your monitor with a known good working monitor and make sure it is properly connected to the computer and a power source. Also try your monitor on the working computer where your borrowed the other monitor. If you don't have a spare monitor, borrow one from a friend.
